ABOUT THE PROGRAM
The 2020 international youth robot study tour is a sino-us international robot summer camp and competition jointly organized by Boston global education and st. John's high school in Boston. This summer camp, students will have the opportunity to build functional lego robot guitars, dynamic video games, fun animated mini-movies and cool movie soundtracks. American teachers teach the basics behind these themes, and students use their imaginations to make their robots come alive. This is not a typical STEM boot camp or computer boot camp, it's a technology and design camp where students learn to design, build and code. This is a tech-based robot camp for creating digital art, engineering and computer science projects.
The robot club is a cooperative, enthusiastic group of Chinese and American students working together to complete challenges and tasks inspired by the FLL-- FIRST LEGO League. Whether your child wants to build and program their first robot or start training for various types of robotics competitions, these classes include the coding and engineering required to build an automated robot. Students will work with the LEGO MINDSTORMS EV3 kit, the latest version of LEGO robotics software and equipment.
About The School:
St. John's high school is located in shrewsbury, Massachusetts, USA. It is one of the first schools founded by Xavier brothers in New England. It has a history of more than 120 years. In addition to offering 23 AP courses, the school offers several STEM subjects, notably computer programming and robotics. For guys who love science, computers and robotics, st. John's is the place to be. Highlights: one of the best schools for computer programming and robotics 46 percent of its students were enrolled in engineering, 26 percent in computer science and information, and 22 percent in management. Visit LABS at MIT:
The camp will include an in-depth tour of some of the world's most famous American universities: MIT, Harvard and New York University. In addition to visiting the campus to learn more about each school, we will also hold an in-depth tour of famous universities' laboratories, which will be conducted by doctoral students or supervisors to see the most advanced scientific laboratories of famous universities in the United States, and take a look at the most cutting-edge research equipment and achievements.
American homestay experience:
We provide our students with a safe and comfortable homestay during the 5-day program to experience American life and culture. You should know that the majority of high school students studying in the United States also live in homestay families. It is professionally regulated by BGE, and every host family is strictly audited. Through the investigation of no criminal background record, every host family has years of experience in cooperating with BGE, and can provide students with warm boarding services. Aimed at the youth with the summer camp to study and to participate in international robot opportunity and experience of the project, with the American students in class, in the local host families in the United States, to stimulate the STEM - the latest of America's most popular interest in science and technology education love at the same time, in-depth understanding of American life and the humanities, experience a wonderful summer vacation for American students. Daily Report to Parent
During the summer program, our teachers will report to our partner or parents with student’s daily status which including but not limited to food, activities, health status, study progress, feelings, and others.
Day 1, 7/19 -US：
Pick up at Boston international airport, arrange to stay with the host family, like the host family introduced themselves, mutual understanding. The students adjusted for the time difference.
Day 2 - Day 7, 7/20 - 7/24 Camp：
The week-long course will take place at st. John's high school in the Boston area.
8:30 am - 9:30 am：Arriving at school, students play games, get along with classmates, friends, and teachers, and get ready for class.
9:30 am - 10:00 am：Project learning. We have a schedule for the day so that students know about their projects and how learning works in teams.
10:00 am - 10:30 am：Model and technology demonstration. Showcase past projects made by top students to boost students' creativity and get them more involved in designing their own robots and models.
10:30 am - 12:00 noon：Project learning. Under the guidance of our professional teachers, students carry out projects at their own pace.
12:00 noon - 1:00pm：Lunch
1:00pm - 3:30pm：Project learning.Students can choose to work alone with the help of a staff member or with friends on a team project. This is where the students will build robots, design video games and shoot unique animations!
Day 7, 7/25 Boston：
Take the bus to the center of Boston, visit the famous institution [Massachusetts institute of technology] in the morning. Afternoon visit to one of the world's most famous schools [Harvard University].
Day 8, 7/26 Boston：
After breakfast, head to Boston's famous Charles river, capri plaza, freedom road, and back bay.
Day 9, 7/27 NYC：
Head to New York City's first landmark, 1 world trade center, and then visit the $4 billion bird station, built at two memorial pools at the old world trade center. Stroll around the world financial center [Wall Street], the world cultural heritage [trinity church], and take a photo with the bull sculpture [bronze bull].
Day 10, 7/28 NYC：
Take a bus to downtown New York and stroll through central park to experience the city's "back garden". Afternoon visit to New York university; At night in times square, you can feel the bustling American metropolis.
Day 11, 7/29 Niagara Falls:
Take a morning drive to Niagara Falls, the most famous natural attraction. Start a deep tour of the falls, visit the Niagara fort and whirlpool state park. Feel the infinite power of nature up close.
Day 12, 7/30 Niagara Falls:
Niagara Falls -- a beautiful view of thousand island -- Syracuse.
Day 13, 7/31 Woodbury, New York：
Visit Woodbury outlets, one of the largest outlets in the United States, enjoy shopping and send letters back to the United States to family and friends.
Day 14, 8/1 Go to the Los Angeles International Airport and take the flight
Day 15, 8/2 Arrive home safely
Program Fee Including：
1.Class study and Material: 1 week class
2.Touring: sightseeing tickets, bus transportations, tips for driver
3.Meals: 3 healthy meals per day
4.Accommodations: student dorm during the class period, and hotel during the tour period
5.Student Insurance: we will provide student insurance to cover the whole trip
